| Glenn Dicterow
Glenn Dicterow Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic since 1980, Glenn Dicterow began to show extraordinary musical gifts at the age of 11 when he made his solo debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He won numerous awards and competitions including the Bronze Medal in the International Tchaikovsky Competition. A graduate of Juilliard, he was a student of the legendary Ivan Galamian.
In 1967, at the age of 18, he appeared as soloist with the New York Philharmonic but California was home and Dicterow served as Associate Concertmaster and Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The violinist has several solo and chamber recordings with EMI and is featured in numerous orchestral violin solos with Zubin Mehta and Kurt Masur. He can also be heard in violin solos of the film scores for The Turning Point, The Untouchables, Altered States, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Interview With A Vampire among others. On the faculty of The Juilliard School, Mr. Dicterow and his wife, Karen Dreyfus – who will appear with him - are founding members of The Lyric Piano Quartet, in residence at Queens College CUNY. More recently Mr. Dicterow was named Chairman of the Orchestral Performance Program at Manhattan School of Music in New York.
