Adam De Sorgo

Although Adam De Sorgo is the Principal Oboist of the Sarasota Orchestra and the oboist in the Sarasota Wind Quintet, he is also a fine English horn player and pianist. He was invited as a guest Principal Oboist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under Yuri Temirkanov. He has also played with the San Diego Symphony, The Florida Orchestra, and the Naples Philharmonic, and served as Second Oboe with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans from 1992-1994. Mr. De Sorgo holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was a student of the late John Mack.

SILL is fortunate to have this multi-talented musician speak to us about the elusive English horn and how it differs from the oboe and the French horn, which is really not a relative at all.
